Bethesda Kitchen & Wet Bars

A family of five (and two dogs) live in this Bethesda MD home that desperately needed updates to better serve their lifestyle. The bulk of the work was in the kitchen, an existing wet bar off the dining room and a new wet bar in the basement. For the kitchen, it was determined that a transformation could ensue without ripping everything out. Instead, only the island was replaced, with the cabinets along the perimeter of the room getting refinished. A new stone backsplash is the star of the space, and new lighting and hardware helps complete the look. For the wet bar, the idea was to brighten it up while retaining the storage. Multi-colored, iridescent tile was used for the backsplash, adding some much-needed color. And in the basement, existing plumbing from a bathroom behind the wall was utilized for a brand new wet bar. While it was initially intended for the three tweens/teens, in the end it was determined that the basement would be turned into an inviting space for all to enjoy. The result is a neutral-colored, handsome wet bar in warm wood, marble tile and brushed nickel.
